Go Red Patch Program

A patch program for girls who love their hearts

The American Heart Association and the University of Iowa Heart and Vascular Center, along with the Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois are offering the Go Red Girl Scouts patch.

The program seeks to bring Girl Scouts and the women they love together to raise awareness of the danger of heart disease as a serious women’s health issue-that starts with lifestyle habits developed early in life.  The patch activities teach you how to keep your heart strong.

Our Mission for the Go Red Girl Scouts Patch Program is to encourage you to:

Getting Started

The patch activities, events and online resources below teach girls how to keep their hearts strong.  Check them out—Go Red for Girls!  Go Red for Women!

Earning a Patch

In February 2004, the American Heart Association launched Go Red for Women with a primary goal to educate women that heart disease is their leading cause of death….a fact most women still do not take to heart.  The Go Red for Women movement challenges women to know their risk for heart disease and take action to reduce their personal risk.  Sadly, one in three women has some form of cardiovascular disease.  The movement plays a leading role in providing women with the tools they need to lead heart-healthy lives.
