Welcome to Girl Scout Camp!
~ Registration Opens March 1, 2010 ~
Girl Scouts has a long history of innovative camping activities for girls. Beginning with the purchase of the very first Girl Scout camp by Juliette Gordon Low nearly 100 years ago, Girl Scouts has offered girls of all ages exciting and new opportunities during the summer months. This year is no exception for Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa & Western Illinois (GSEIWI).
Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. At Girl Scout Camp, girls discover their interests in a safe, natural setting, connect to others and take action to make the world a better place through experiences that are girl led and involve cooperative learning and learning by doing. Our camps provide girls a supportive, safe environment where they are urged to expand their horizons and try new things. While girls learn new physical skills like swimming or horseback riding, they also learn life skills like teamwork, leadership, and self-reliance.
Camp opens up a world of new things for girls, only some of which are listed on the following pages. Please understand that the content of the program is only part of what she’ll learn. She will also learn how to be strong, how to be confident, how to live as part of a community, and she’ll have fun!
All four camps are proud to be accredited by the American Camp Association (ACA). Every three years, the ACA visits our camps to measure every facet of camp operation by a set of standards that are internationally recognized in
the camping industry. Our camps have earned this mark of distinction during the past four decades.

Here’s your chance to check out camp! Meet camp staff, take a tour, see the different kinds of camp lodging and participate in some fun activities at each of the GSEIWI camps. Bring the family and enjoy an afternoon of fun! Each girl that attends an Open House will be entered into a drawing for a $25 credit toward her camp session fee! There is no fee to attend a camp open house; registration is not required.

- About Girl Scout Camp
- Resident Camp - Explore nature, camp skills, the arts, science, leadership and more as you“Leap 2 Lead … Be the Change” at Girl Scout Camp! Each camp session offers a unique experience for you to try new things and make new friends from across Eastern Iowa & Western Illinois. You’ll make “forever” memories!
- Horse Camp - Girls love horses! Enjoy learning the skills you need to become a modern cowgirl. Introductory horse programs are offered for girls entering grades 1-10 who are new
to horseback riding. Progressive level sessions are for girls entering grades 5-12 with a dedicated interest in developing horseback riding skills and learning to care for horses.
- Partner Camp - Come to camp with an adult parent, relative or friend! Partner camps are priced for a girl-adult pair.
- Troop Camp - This is an opportunity for troops to experience more than just a weekend together at Girl Scout Camp. This expanded experience provides the best of both worlds: a great experience at Girl Scout Camp, with all of your troop friends! Does your troop want to try outdoor cooking, art projects, climbing, canoeing, or backpacking? Or, does your group want to experience it all? Trained resident camp staff will lead specialty
activities, and troops will eat in the dining hall and cook out. Troops will also participate in All-Camp activities. There will also be plenty of time for activities led by the troop leaders.
- Day Camp (L-Kee-Ta & Little Cloud) - Day camp gives you a taste of what resident camp has to offer: swimming daily, crafts, songs and a cookout. It is a great first step to overnight camping. Weekly themes add variety and
excitement into your day.
- Community Day Camp - Not ready for a “stay-and-play” resident camp experience? Then consider these day camp opportunities, run by dedicated volunteers and held throughout the council. Some community day camps offer an overnight for experienced day campers.

Camp Properties
Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa & Western Illinois is proud to own and operate four camp properties. Each facility is situated on beautiful wooded acreages with rolling hills and peaceful waterways, offering plenty of opportunities for fun and adventure. Each camp’s summer resident camp program adheres to American Camp Association standards. Each camp operates a camp “Trading Post” during the resident camp season. Except for during the resident camp weeks of summer, the camps are available for troop and Girl Scout group usage throughout the year.
