Council Facts

Girl Scouts of Eastern Iowa and Western Illinois (GSEIWI) builds girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place. In partnership with committed adult volunteers, girls develop leadership, discover themselves and their values, connect to others locally and globally, and take action to make the world a better place. Council fact sheet.

Who We Serve

GSEIWI serves more than 18,000 girls ages 5-17 and nearly 5,000 adult volunteers in 31 counties in Eastern Iowa and seven counties in Western Illinois.

How We Serve Girls

Girl Scouts is a dynamic organization--adapting to girls' ever changing needs. Girl Scout activities are age-appropriate and organized into six membership grade levels:

When a girl joins Girl Scouts, she can choose any one, all, or some of the pathways to participate in within a single year: troop, events, camp, special interest groups, and travel. No matter which pathway a girl chooses, she is an actual Girl Scout.

GSEIWI provides girls with a rewarding leadership development experience through trained adult volunteers and members. Funding is provided in part by annual product sales programs, grants, local United Way agencies and generous donor contributions.

GSEIWI Values

The Girl Scout Promise and Law

The values of the Girl Scout Promise and Law are at the heart of the new Leadership Program. Through these values, girls form their own beliefs and values, learn to consider ethical aspects of situations, and are committed to social justice and community service and action.

Girl Scout Promise

On my honor, I will try:
To serve God* and my country,
To help people at all times,
And to live by the Girl Scout Law.

promise

*The word "God" can be interpreted in a number of ways, depending on one's spiritual beliefs. When reciting the Girl Scout Promise, it is okay to replace the word "God" with whatever word your spiritual beliefs dictate.

Girl Scout Law

I will do my best to be
honest and fair,
friendly and helpful,
considerate and caring,
courageous and strong, and
responsible for what I say and do,
and to
respect myself and others,
respect authority,
use resources wisely,
make the world a better place, and
be a sister to every Girl Scout.
