Board of Directors

Girl Scouts is a lot of fun, but it’s also a business with a corporate structure. As a volunteer organization, we have a volunteer board of directors, composed of adult women and men who get a chance for leadership experience. We strive for diversity - - geographic, racial/ethnic, gender, age and backgrounds. The combined expertise of these community members provides the leadership to set the direction of the council and establish the policies and bylaws that guide us.

The Board of Directors are accountable to the elected membership for governing the affairs of the Council; to the Board of Directors of Girl Scouts of the USA for compliance with the charter requirements; to the State of Iowa in which this Council is incorporated for adhering to state corporate law; to the State of Illinois for business conducted in the State of Illinois; and to the Federal Government in matters relating to legislation affecting non-profit organizations.
